Once upon a time I had a Sears Kenmore Dishwasher, model 5871510590.

On Labor Day, Monday September 1, 2003, it decided it had had enough and caught on fire. Flames, smoke, the whole nine yards.

Thankfully I was home and put a stop to that nonsense before it spread to my wood cabinets and countertops.

Here is a picture of the electric part that had the short in it and caused the fire to start with.

Apparently, it was a known issue:  Consumer Product Safety Commission.  Unfortunately, I wasn't quite aware of that.

I ordered a new one but it arrived damaged and had to be refused.  I'm just not having a lot of luck.

I am sadly without a dishwasher at the moment.

Have I mentioned I don't like doing the dishes?
